HSE Specialist at Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL)
Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) is a major player in Nigeria’s oil industry and one of the country’s top investors. We operate in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) across both onshore and offshore assets in the Niger Delta. Additionally, we have a strong presence in multipartner deepwater operations, including the Agbami Field, one of Nigeria’s largest deepwater discoveries, and a nonoperational stake in the Usan Field.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a passionate HSE Specialist to join our team and play a key role in ensuring worksite safety and compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations. If you’re committed to promoting a proactive safety culture and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
- HSE Programs & Policies: Implement, support, and maintain HSE policies and procedures across operations.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments and identify potential hazards within operational activities.
- Inspections & Audits: Lead regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to HSE standards and regulations.
- Incident Investigation: Analyze incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work with operational teams to promote safe work environments and procedures.
- Training: Conduct frontline training to ensure proper understanding and application of HSE principles.
- Reporting & Monitoring: Track and report HSE performance, focusing on key metrics and improvement areas.
- Audits & Compliance: Participate in HSE audits and inspections, ensuring compliance and safeguarding personnel safety.
- Waste Management & Emergency Response: Support facility waste management programs and coordinate spill response and emergency drills.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree (second class upper) in Engineering, Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: At least three years of relevant post-qualification experience in HSE or related fields.
- Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. Proven experience in collaboration, with the ability to drive initiatives and process improvements.
- Attributes: A passion for safety and operational excellence, with the ability to work well with diverse teams.
