Archivi.ng Fellowship

The Archivi.ng Fellowship is a multidisciplinary six-month program that seeks to enhance the world’s understanding of Nigerian history through engaging and innovative work. This program is designed for historians, journalists, artists, technologists, writers, filmmakers, content creators, and anyone passionate about helping others connect with Nigerian history.

We are seeking creative, ambitious projects that align with our mission to make Nigerian history accessible. The fellowship will allow you to:

  • Dive into archival materials, exploring hidden stories and offering new perspectives.
  • Create work that uncovers and promotes Nigerian historical narratives.
  • Produce content that appeals to either a broad or niche audience.

This fellowship challenges participants to discover, interpret, and create new works based on archival resources. We’re looking for historians, ethnographers, journalists, artists, technologists, researchers, filmmakers, content creators, and anyone passionate about Nigerian history.

Eligibility Criteria

You should apply if you:

  • Are curious about Nigerian history and passionate about presenting it in innovative ways.
  • Have a track record of producing knowledge-based or creative work.
  • Believe your work contributes to the global understanding of Nigeria’s history.
  • Are resident in Nigeria.
  • Have no affiliations with government-owned entities or political parties.
Fellowship Benefits
  • Monthly stipend: ₦500,000 to support your work and logistics throughout the programme.

Application Procedure

Applications open on September 10, 2024, and close at 11:59 pm WAT, October 10, 2024. Shortlisted candidates will be notified after review. The fellowship will run from November 2024 to April 2025.

Selection Process
  1. First Stage: A preliminary screening to evaluate basic eligibility, project alignment with our mission, and the feasibility of completing the project in six months.
  2. Second Stage: Interviews with shortlisted applicants, assessing project details, experience, commitment, and feasibility.
