Job Purpose:

The Senior Implementation Engineer will lead the delivery and support of complex solutions, manage technical support for value-added services (VAS), and mentor junior engineers. This role requires expertise in SMS Messaging, USSD, and Mobile/Digital Financial Services, ensuring alignment with customer needs and company objectives.

Responsibilities:

Technical Implementation and Delivery:

  • Lead the design, installation, and delivery of systems for messaging, USSD, mobile, and digital infrastructure.
  • Oversee SMS and USSD gateway implementations, Mobile Banking Proxies, and 2FA systems.
  • Develop detailed documentation on configuration, change impacts, and rollback procedures.
  • Drive scalable engineering solutions, coordinating network configurations with infrastructure teams.

Technical Support and Escalation Management:

  • Serve as the main technical contact for customer inquiries and manage support tickets.
  • Provide third-level support for SMS Messaging, USSD, and internet banking issues.
  • Engage with MNOs for sender ID registrations and onboard SMS customers effectively.
  • Analyze support data trends and implement improvements to enhance service quality.

Technology Infrastructure and Service Management:

  • Monitor and optimize technical infrastructure performance using tools like AppDynamics, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, and DataDog.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory technology standards.
  • Liaise with shared technology teams to communicate service downtimes and incident reports to customers.

System Maintenance and Optimization:

  • Conduct routine health checks and maintenance for digital messaging and mobile banking systems.
  • Oversee database management, including backups and space reclamation.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system efficiency and performance.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Product Owners, and QA Engineers to meet business objectives.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement and advocate for continuous delivery practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead training sessions to foster knowledge sharing.

Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, facilitating professional growth and aligning practices with industry standards.
  • Provide strategic input for technical roadmaps and align projects with organizational goals.
Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Security+, Network+, and Cisco Certified Network Associate are preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years in Enterprise Engineering or Technical Support, ideally within Financial Services, FinTech, Telecommunications, or Service Provider industries.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL, MySQL, and Oracle Database administration.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, and .NET fundamentals.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Microsoft Azure).
  • Knowledge of message queuing systems (Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and tools (Git, GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • System monitoring experience with tools like AppDynamics, Grafana, and Kibana.
