Job Description:

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for maximizing revenue and subscriber acquisition in the assigned South-South territory. The role focuses on strengthening channel effectiveness, ensuring adequate recharge availability, and executing sales, distribution, and marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recharge Sales:
    • Achieve recharge sales targets within assigned state or area.
    • Ensure adequate availability of all recharge denominations at sub-channel partners and retail points.
    • Supervise channel partners to maintain stock availability and distribution efficiency.
  • Subscriber Growth and Activation:
    • Drive initiatives to achieve Share of Gross Additions (SOGA) and Share of Net Additions (SONA).
    • Eliminate KYC inactivity and ensure activation of quality gross adds.
    • Manage direct activation teams and monitor channel partner activations.
  • Revenue Growth:
    • Implement customer-driven activities such as product launches and local marketing events.
    • Drive voice and data revenue performance through strategic activities.
  • Channel Branding and Visibility:
    • Ensure proper branding and outlet visibility in line with Airtel’s “Look of Success.”
    • Manage POS stock effectively to minimize wastage or obsolescence.
  • Distribution Infrastructure:
    • Recruit Retail Sales Officers (RSOs) and Smart Sales Officers (SSOs) based on distribution models.
    • Maintain required ratios (RSO:SSO and KYC kit deployment) and upgrade retailers to one-stop-shop outlets.
  • Network and BTS Management:
    • Eliminate Cell-Level Shrinkage (CLS).
    • Plan and implement distribution readiness for new site launches.
  • Competition Intelligence:
    • Monitor and report competitor activities within the territory.
    • Implement counter-initiatives to protect market share.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Marketing, Business Management, Engineering, or Computer Science.
    • MBA or Master’s degree in Business Administration is an advantage.
    • Project management certification is an added benefit.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of commercial or business management experience.
    • 1–2 years of experience in Airtel products preferred.
    • Proven team leadership and sales knowledge.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer orientation skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving, presentation, and organizational abilities.
    • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
