Job Purpose

To manage the contractual and financial aspects of construction projects. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for cost planning, estimating, contract administration, valuation of work done, and ensuring value for money while maintaining quality standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct feasibility studies based on client requirements
  • Prepare and analyze project costing for tenders, including materials, quantities, labour, and time
  • Draft and review tender and contract documents (BOQs)
  • Negotiate contracts and work schedules
  • Allocate and supervise work for subcontractors
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents
  • Evaluate interim valuations and certify contractor payments
  • Execute value engineering and cost control
  • Assess contract claims and manage risk analysis
  • Estimate labour and material requirements
  • Provide detailed progress reports and cost tracking
  • Advise on procurement strategies and commercial risk management
  • Offer guidance on contractual disputes and claims
  • Ensure timely submission of project reports to the HOD
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in cost estimating software (e.g., CostX, WinQS, MS Excel)
  • Familiarity with standard contract forms (e.g., FIDIC, JCT, NEC)
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Professional registration or membership (e.g., NIQS, RICS, or QSRBN) is an advantage
