Job Description
The Taimaka Project runs a treatment program for acute malnutrition in children under five in Gombe State, Nigeria. We aim to make malnutrition treatment better, cheaper, and simpler so that limited resources can save more lives. As part of our mission, we also conduct research and develop innovations to improve treatment outcomes.

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to manage our financial records and reporting processes. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy in data entry, budget tracking, account reconciliation, and compliance with financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Data Entry & Management
- Accurately enter all weekly transactions into QuickBooks
- Verify supporting documents for financial transactions (e.g., invoices, receipts, bank statements)
- Categorize income and expenditures using correct activity codes
- Maintain organized digital records for accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Track actual expenses vs budgeted amounts and report variances
- Reconcile bank accounts and prepare monthly bank transfer statements
- Generate monthly expense reports and financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Reconciliation & Compliance
- Perform bank reconciliations and support monthly/year-end closing
- Ensure adherence to company policies and financial regulations
- Assist with audit preparation and documentation
Accounts Management
- Process accounts payable and manage approvals and payments
- Handle accounts receivable, invoicing, payment tracking, and overdue follow-ups
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting (accrual accounting preferred)
- Proficient in QuickBooks and general accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Strong written and spoken English
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Strong spreadsheet (Excel/Google Sheets) skills
- Additional certifications (e.g., CB, CPB, QuickBooks Certified)
- Prior experience in NGOs or international organizations
- High integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a remote setting
