Oxford University
Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme

Description

Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme

The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme is designed to nurture future leaders by offering exceptional university graduates and professionals from developing and emerging economies the opportunity for fully-funded graduate studies at the Oxford University. This initiative is coupled with a comprehensive leadership development program, long-term mentoring, and networking opportunities.

Background

Established in 2015, the Oxford-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme commemorated Lord Weidenfeld’s 95th birthday, supported by generous donations from various benefactors. An additional donation of £9 million by Trustee and Chairman André Hoffmann in June 2017, along with matched funding of £6 million from Oxford University, doubled the program’s size.

These scholarships are a part of the Oxford Graduate Scholarships, formed through a pioneering matched funding initiative to provide fully-funded scholarships for outstanding graduate students worldwide. Oxford University contributes 40% of the funds, with the remaining 60% generously donated by supporters of the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust, including Fondation Hoffmann.

The Leadership Programme is an integral component, where scholars engage in philosophical discussions, gain business skills, and receive communication training within a supportive community. Further details about this program are available on the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust website.

Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship covers 100% of course fees and offers a living cost grant of at least £18,622. Awards are provided to cover the full duration of the course fee liability.

Partnership Schemes

In addition to the Oxford-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarship and Leadership Programme, the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust collaborates with the Hualan Education Group and Chevening. The Hope Scholarships are also extended as part of the University’s ‘Oxford Sanctuary Community’ for individuals with a displacement background. These scholarships involve partnerships with multiple colleges, where the college contributes to the funding, and successful candidates will be transferred to one of the partner colleges upon receiving the scholarship.

Scholarship Outcomes

Decisions on scholarship awards are anticipated to be made by the end of May 2024. Applicants not notified by this time should assume that their application was unsuccessful. Due to the high volume of applications, individual feedback on unsuccessful applications cannot be provided.
