Job Title: Accountant

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Location: Ikeja, Lagos State.

About You

You are eager to implement systems that drive performance, enable decision-making, and ensure financial compliance. You are a confident communicator who is comfortable working independently with a keen interest in operational efficiency.

Role Purpose

The Operational Accountant will play a central role in managing the organization’s financial operations. The role involves credit control, financial reporting, cash flow optimization, financial planning and analysis, tax compliance, and operational collaboration. The successful candidate will lead initiatives to enhance accuracy, transparency, and efficiency across the company’s financial processes.

Job Responsibilities

Accounting Functions

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations such as accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and statutory deductions (e.g., VAT, PAYE, NHF, Pension, ITF, NSITF).
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to uphold data integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop financial forecasts, plans, and reports that inform decision-making.
  • Lead automation and process improvement initiatives using accounting tools and project management platforms.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., banks, auditors, vendors).
  • Proactively identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.

Operational Finance Responsibilities

  • Support operational teams to improve cost structures, workflows, and revenue generation strategies.
  • Conduct financial analysis to evaluate trends, investment decisions, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting cycles, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to optimize procurement and inventory management.
  • Track and report on key operational metrics (e.g., cycle time, throughput, margin performance).
  • Provide insights through automated weekly turnover updates and dashboards.
  • Lead negotiations for payment terms or settlements with vendors/clients.
Requirements and Skills
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho, Odoo) and Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Asana, Trello, or Notion
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce accurate reports and derive actionable insights from data
  • Experience working in a remote or tech-driven work environment
  • Excellent negotiation skills and client relationship management
  • Integrity, precision, and a commitment to continuous improvement
Compensation

Starting Monthly Salary: ₦200,000

Post-Probation Monthly Salary: ₦250,000
