Accountant at Checkers Suites and Apartments

Checkers Suites and Apartments is an elegant hospitality facility located approximately 25 minutes from Abuja Airport and 30 minutes from the Central Business District, providing a comfortable and professional environment for guests.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team, responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting financial data. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy of financial information, compliance with accounting standards, and the integrity of our internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management:
  • Prepare entries for asset, liability, and capital accounts by analyzing financial information.
  • Document and verify financial transactions by entering and reconciling account details.
  • Generate and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements.
  • Participate in financial standards setting and forecasting processes.
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and provide insightful financial analysis.
• Internal Controls & Compliance:
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain robust internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with FCT IRS and FIRS filing requirements, preparing tax returns as needed.
  • Secure financial data by maintaining database backups.
• Client Interaction & Reporting:
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contributing positively to client relationships.
  • File and handle statutory returns and remittances periodically.

Requirements:

• Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accountancy or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACA) is a plus.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements, general ledger functions, and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Skills & Competencies:
  • Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong quantitative abilities and a risk analysis mindset.
• Additional Requirement:
  • Must reside around Abuja Airport Road.
