Job Overview:
The Area Security Adviser will oversee general security operations, asset and personnel protection, budget management, coordination, and the management of all security correspondents in SPDC’s Gbaran Production Unit Operations. This role is pivotal in achieving safety and production targets, maximizing business profitability, and safeguarding the reputation of the Shell Group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversight of security activities in various field locations and technical support personnel.
- Management of the security budget for the Gbaran Production Unit.
- Advising Production Unit Managers and Security Managers on security risk assessments and crime trends.
- Facilitating the resolution of outstanding security gaps/actions raised from the Production Units.
- Conducting security risk assessments of the Production unit and updating security plans accordingly.
- Providing intelligence summaries and conducting periodic training sessions.
- Ensuring prompt payment of security vendors and interfacing with them for asset security.
- Delivery of security operations services in line with National, SPDC, and Group Security policies.
- Building relationships and collaboration with Government Security Agencies to protect Company Assets.
- Identifying potential security threats and implementing actions to manage and mitigate them.
- Supervising security resources and ensuring effective implementation of access control measures.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution. Postgraduate qualification in relevant fields is advantageous.
- Professional industrial security certification (PSP and/or CPP) from ASIS or equivalent body is mandatory.
- At least 8 years of industrial security experience, with experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of E&P business and understanding of the Niger Delta and Gulf of Guinea environment.
- Proficiency in intelligence gathering and maintaining relationships with Government Security Agencies.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Familiarity with Shell Group HSSE policies, standards, and procedures, and Global Security processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and creativity.
