Assistant Accountant at Qatar Charity Organization
Qatar Charity is a Doha-based non-governmental organization founded in 1992, dedicated to addressing humanitarian and development challenges worldwide. With operations in over 110 countries, Qatar Charity collaborates with various governments, including Nigeria, to support vulnerable communities.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Job Code: AA 002
Reporting line: Office Finance Manager / Accountant
Internal contacts: Field Office Director, Field Office Department, Finance Department, International Operations and Programs Division Directors
Job Purpose Summary:
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for assisting the field office accountant in managing the books and accounting records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with organizational and host country accounting standards.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing the estimated budget.
- Issue bills of exchange and verify attachments and documents.
- Check consistency and conformity of document amounts with entries in the books.
- Implement insurance procedures for organizational assets against risks like fire, theft, or accidents.
- Participate in monthly bank reconciliations and send bank account statements.
- Prepare periodic cash balances reports and submit them to the office accountant.
- Prepare financial data, reports, and final accounts.
- Ensure the regularity of supporting documents for financial transactions.
- Settle petty cash advances and ensure they are spent according to their purpose.
- Submit and review monthly salary requests, PAYE, other deductions, overtime, allowances, and bonuses.
Other Tasks:
- Manage bank statements and prepare monthly reconciliations.
- Follow up on accounts payable and receivable.
- Participate in asset and property inventory committees.
- Perform other accounting tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Job Requirements and Qualifications: Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience in an Accounting role
Skills:
- Familiarity with accounting treatments for financial statements
- Experience in preparing annual and detailed budgets for programs and activities
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Languages:
- Arabic, English
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of preparing annual and detailed budgets for programs and activities
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics ERP)
Capacity:
- Ability to take responsibility and complete tasks efficiently and effectively
- Ability to provide detailed data for receipts, expenses, and obligations upon request
