About the Job

The Automation/Instrumentation Technician is responsible for maintaining and optimizing instruments and automation equipment. This includes troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and improving systems to ensure smooth plant operations while adhering to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance of instruments, sensors, and automation systems.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor spare parts inventory and consumption patterns to ensure availability.
  • Installation: Install control and measurement instruments on plant equipment.
  • Diagnostics: Use precision instruments to test, diagnose, and repair systems.
  • Calibration: Calibrate field instruments such as weigh feeders and flow meters.
  • System Support: Collaborate with operators and engineers to resolve control system issues.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled tests, generate maintenance reports, and ensure system reliability.
  • Troubleshooting: Address failures in electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Energy Efficiency: Record and report specific electrical energy consumption.
Collaboration
  • Work with Automation/Instrumentation Engineers, Planners, and other technical teams.
  • Liaise with safety officers, production teams, and external bodies for compliance and troubleshooting.
Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • HND/B.Sc. in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, or Physics).

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Project tools.
  • Knowledge of cement manufacturing processes.
  • Expertise in computer-aided systems for kiln and mill operations.

Experience & Competencies

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Good understanding of safety laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills with demonstrated leadership abilities.
