Human Resource Officer at the Policy Innovation Centre (PIC)

The Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) is Africa’s first national institutionalized behavioral initiative. Established by the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), PIC supports governments and stakeholders in making behaviorally informed decisions and generating impactful interventions in critical areas such as Global Health, Education, Digital Solutions, Agriculture, Climate and Food Security, Poverty, Livelihoods, Governance, and Gender Inclusion. Since its launch in October 2021, PIC has been at the forefront of providing evidence-driven, contextually relevant, and sustainable solutions to development challenges.

Job Description:

The Human Resource Officer will play a vital role in supporting the HR department, gaining hands-on experience in various HR functions within the NGO sector. This position provides a unique opportunity to learn about recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and HR administration while contributing to the organization’s mission by supporting its human capital needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Onboarding Support:
  • Assist in drafting job descriptions and posting job advertisements.
  • Screen resumes and coordinate interview schedules.
  • Support the onboarding process for new employees, including preparing induction materials and ensuring proper documentation.
Employee Relations:
  • Help maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist in organizing employee engagement activities and events.
  • Support the resolution of employee queries and issues under the guidance of the HR Manager.
Performance Management:
  • Assist in tracking and coordinating performance appraisals and feedback processes.
  • Help maintain records of employee performance evaluations and related documentation.
  • Support the analysis of performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
HR Administration:
  • Assist in maintaining HR databases and HRIS systems, ensuring data is up-to-date.
  • Help prepare HR-related reports and documents, including staff handbooks and policy updates.
  • Provide administrative support during HR meetings, including taking minutes and following up on action items.
Training and Development:
  • Assist in coordinating training sessions and workshops for employees.
  • Support the development and distribution of training materials.
  • Track employee participation in training programs and maintain relevant records.
Compliance and Policy Implementation:
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with organizational HR policies and procedures.
  • Help monitor changes in employment laws and update policies accordingly.
  • Support the HR Manager in implementing new HR initiatives and policies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
