Egbin Power Plc. in Lagos stands out as a significant addition to Nigeria’s electricity sector, widely recognized as the largest single power station in Sub-Saharan Africa. It was constructed to address the growing demand for electricity in Lagos and its surroundings.

As part of the nation’s privatization efforts, Sahara, along with its power division, Sahara Power Group, and various affiliates, acquired the Egbin Power Plant, boasting an installed capacity of 1320 MW. Our aim is to generate at least 5,000 MW of electricity within the next five years.

Egbin Power Plc is currently seeking candidates for the position of a Machinist.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operating machinery to produce precise parts
• Ensuring produced parts meet specifications by taking accurate measurements
• Assisting in the maintenance and monitoring of plant equipment, including boilers and turbines
• Conducting quality checks during machining operations and documenting results
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and sketches for part production
• Performing equipment maintenance and handling emergency repairs

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of a Trade Test Certificate or equivalent
• Certification in Welding and Fabrication or equivalent
• At least three (3) years of experience in machining

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong technical knowledge of tools and equipment required for the job
• Familiarity with standard operating procedures for fabrication and repair
• Understanding of the power generation process
• Proficiency in setting up and operating various machines for precision part production
• Ability to fabricate and modify parts as needed for plant operations
• Competence in monitoring machine indicators and troubleshooting technical issues
• Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental considerations
• Capability in technical troubleshooting to identify machine errors
• Awareness of occupational hazards and adherence to safety protocols
