Medical Imaging / X-ray Technician at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN)
The Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) is a reputable non-governmental organization focused on addressing infectious and non-infectious diseases like HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and cancer. IHVN provides prevention, diagnosis, treatment, capacity building, research, and care and support services.
We are currently seeking to fill the position of Medical Imaging/X-ray Technician based in Lagos on a full-time basis.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the STL, SLA, and Radiographer, the Medical Imaging/X-ray Technician will perform radiological duties in compliance with international standards using a mobile digital x-ray backpack unit. Additionally, they will handle administrative and clerical tasks to support the delivery of quality radiography for screening clients for TB as part of an Active TB Case Finding (ACF) & Contact Investigation team in collaboration with the National and State TB Programs.
Responsibilities:
- Screening clients for presumptive TB and conducting digital x-ray examinations when applicable.
- Preparing clients for radiological procedures and ensuring safety measures are followed to protect all parties from radiation exposure.
- Taking high-quality diagnostic radiographs of clients and maintaining the mobile x-ray unit.
- Serving as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and keeping records of dosimetry readings.
- Training new employees and working closely with the team for prompt diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Ensuring compliance with equipment regulations and reporting any malfunctions promptly.
- Performing other duties as directed by the supervisor and contributing to the successful implementation of TB LON 3 project activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- National Diploma in Medical Imaging Processing / X-ray Technology.
- Current Permit to practice from Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).
- Proficiency in MS Excel and attention to detail.
- Two years of work experience in any radiography field.
- Valid license according to state laws, with NGO experience as an advantage.
- Flexibility across various tasks and strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Portable Digital X-ray guidelines and policies.
