Payroll Officer at MTN Nigeria

We are currently recruiting for the position of Officer – Payroll. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the processing, remittance, reconciliation, and reporting of all payroll-related statutory liabilities. This includes ensuring compliance with all payroll-related tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory Compliance: Ensure MTNN’s compliance with all payroll-related tax laws and regulations.
- Payroll Processing: Coordinate the processing and remittance of payroll-related statutory liabilities (PAYE, NHF).
- Data Accuracy: Monitor prompt submission of payroll-related inputs and review for accuracy regarding claims, allowances, tax relief, and deductions.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly reports related to payroll statutory deductions within MTNN.
- Salary Administration: Execute salary administration activities including the preparation of the annual budget of the Salary Unit, reviewing salaries journal vouchers, and monitoring amortizations and accruals of salaries and reconciliations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all payroll-related payments made to statutory authorities.
- Employee Registration: Register new MTNN staff with the State and Federal Board of Inland Revenue (SBIR, FBIR) and other internal revenue regulatory agencies to avoid penalties.
- Audit Administration: Administer statutory audits (concerning PAYE, ITF, and NHF) and respond promptly to payroll-related queries from tax authorities and other regulatory bodies, preparing PAYE audit support data for external auditors.
- Software Management: Run payroll software ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
- Year-End Tax Forms: Coordinate the preparation of year-end tax forms (Form A) for both national and expatriate staff and file tax returns in compliance with statutory authorities’ guidelines.
Job Requirements
Education:
- First Degree in Accounting
- Fluency in English
Experience:
- 3 – 7 years of experience in payroll management and tax within a medium-sized organization.
