Petroleum Engineer at Chevron Nigeria Limited
Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) is one of the largest oil producers in Nigeria and a significant investor in the country. We operate through a joint-venture arrangement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), focusing on onshore and offshore assets in the Niger Delta. Our deepwater operations include the Agbami Field, one of Nigeria’s largest discoveries, and a nonoperated interest in the Usan Field.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Petroleum Engineer to join our team, bringing expertise in petroleum engineering principles like drilling, production, and reservoir management. The ideal candidate will analyze and integrate data to optimize production performance, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and apply technology to solve engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis: Analyze subsurface and surface engineering data to manage fields and develop new opportunities.
- Collaboration: Work with geologists and geophysicists to optimize recovery strategies and forecast production.
- Production Trends: Analyze production trends and recommend interventions to maintain or boost output.
- Field Development: Estimate reserves and assess economic viability in collaboration with earth scientists and economists.
- Drilling Operations: Provide technical expertise for development wells and workovers, and monitor real-time drilling operations.
- Reporting: Prepare technical reports and presentations for management, conduct post-drill lookbacks, and manage resource bookings.
- Subsurface Modelling: Utilize Pressure Volume Temperature (PVT) data to model reservoirs, assess risks, and generate production forecasts.
- Compliance: Ensure all asset development and reservoir management activities comply with government regulations.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (Minimum of second class honours, upper division).
- Master’s or Doctorate degree holders with less than 5 years of experience are also eligible.
- Experience:
- 0 – 5 years post-qualification experience.
- Strong understanding of petroleum engineering principles (drilling, production, reservoir engineering).
- Skills:
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software for solving scientific and engineering problems.
- Strong digital proficiency and adaptability to new tools and technologies.
- Additional Qualities:
- Highly motivated, proactive, and result-oriented.
- A strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
