Job Description
We are hiring a Procurement Specialist to manage the sourcing and purchasing of medications and medical equipment. This role is critical to ensuring cost-effective and timely procurement while upholding high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and Implement Procurement:
- Design and execute short- and long-term procurement plans.
- Monitor market conditions and adjust procurement strategies.
- Support ethical procurement aligned with organizational values.
- Contribute to budgeting and cost-containment strategies.
Source Suppliers, Negotiate Contracts, and Manage Vendor Relationships:
- Identify and evaluate suppliers based on capacity, reliability, compliance, and cost.
- Conduct vendor prequalification and due diligence.
- Lead contract negotiations and manage SLAs.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
Evaluate Supplier Performance and Ensure Compliance:
- Establish and track vendor KPIs (e.g., delivery time, order accuracy).
- Conduct periodic audits and performance reviews.
- Address non-conformance or performance issues.
- Maintain a preferred supplier list.
Maintain Accurate Records of Purchases and Pricing:
- Document all procurement transactions using digital tools.
- Keep up-to-date price lists, POs, contracts, and invoices.
- Analyze purchasing data for forecasting and decision-making.
- Ensure proper coding for internal and financial reporting.
Collaborate with Internal Departments:
- Work with Inventory, Supply Chain, Production, and Finance teams.
- Translate demand forecasts into procurement plans.
- Anticipate needs for new projects or emergency response.
Monitor Budgets and Drive Cost Reduction:
- Track spending, identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Benchmark procurement costs against market rates.
- Evaluate alternative materials or logistics methods.
Ensure Legal and Policy Compliance:
- Maintain transparent and auditable procurement documentation.
- Enforce anti-fraud and conflict-of-interest controls.
Crisis Management and Risk Mitigation:
- Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions.
- Maintain a list of backup suppliers for critical goods.
- Monitor and renegotiate contracts as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement, preferably in healthcare.
- Strong negotiation, vendor, and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
