Project Officer at Oxfam Nigeria
Oxfam is a global network of 17 organizations dedicated to eradicating poverty and promoting justice worldwide. In Nigeria, Oxfam focuses on Economic Justice/Sustainable Livelihoods, Humanitarian Programming, Gender Justice, and Good Governance, employing a rights-based approach.
We are currently seeking to fill the position of Project Officer:
Internal Job Grade: D1 Contract type:
Fixed term: 6 months
Department: Programs
Responsibilities:
- Program Support: Assist the Project Coordinator in planning, implementing, and monitoring project activities to align with objectives and timelines.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate meetings, workshops, and trainings with government officials, community-based organizations, and civil society organizations.
- Capacity Building: Organize and facilitate training sessions for project staff, government officials, and community members on relevant topics and methodologies.
- VSLA Group Formation and Management: Support the establishment and monitoring of savings and loans groups within the community.
- Budget Management: Aid in the development and monitoring of project budgets.
- Gender and Social Inclusion: Ensure project activities are gender-sensitive and inclusive of marginalized groups, particularly women and vulnerable populations.
- Networking and Collaboration: Establish and maintain relationships with local partners, NGOs, financial institutions, and government agencies.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document and report project activities, prepare progress reports, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Data Management: Collect, organize, analyze, and manage project-related data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to the Project Coordinator, including organizing meetings and managing logistics. Experience, Knowledge & Competencies:
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Economics, or related field.
- Knowledge & Experience: Previous experience in project implementation, preferably in agriculture or development.
Key Attributes
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in English and local languages spoken in Taraba State is an advantage.
- Ability to travel to project sites within Taraba State as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data analysis software.
- Understanding of gender and social inclusion issues in development programming is desirable.
