Job Overview:

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Beauty Butler, you’ll play a critical role in developing our data architecture and backend systems. You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team to create a product that meets user expectations and thrives in a fast-paced startup atmosphere. Key Responsibilities:

• Backend Development: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend systems. Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and build new features.
• System Architecture: Contribute to technical architecture discussions and decisions, including cloud architecture design. Design high-performance, reliable, and secure backend solutions.
• API Development: Design, develop, and launch cloud-native, API-driven web applications. Ensure API compliance with industry standards.
• Performance Optimization: Address performance bottlenecks and conduct performance testing to ensure optimal system responsiveness.
• Database Management: Design, implement, and maintain the database architecture, including data modeling, indexing, and query optimization.
• Code Review & Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews, refactor code, and improve build and test systems. Implement best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.
• Collaboration & Leadership: Work with Product Managers and Engineers to build new features and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Troubleshoot and resolve backend-related issues. Participate in on-call rotations for critical system issues.
• Quality Champion: Ensure high-quality user experiences through thorough QA processes before deployment.
• Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to bring innovative ideas to the team.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 5+ years in Backend Development or a similar role with a strong consumer experience portfolio.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in server-side programming languages (Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, PHP) and frameworks (Express, Django, Ruby on Rails, Spring, Laravel). Experience with database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• API Development: Experience designing and developing robust APIs.
• Database Management: Proficiency in database schema design and optimization.
• Security Practices: Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including encryption, authentication, and secure coding.
• Communication: Excellent skills in presenting and justifying engineering decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Leadership: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities. Ability to collaborate across functions and lead projects effectively.
• Self-Motivation: Creative, solutions-focused, and proactive with a bias for action.

Nice to Have:

• Track record of leading 0 > 1 initiatives.
• Knowledge of booking and management software.

Salary:

• ₦‎500,000 – ₦‎700,000 Monthly
