Software Engineer at Chevron Nigeria Limited
Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) is one of Nigeria’s largest oil producers and investors, operating in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) across the Niger Delta’s onshore and offshore oil assets. Chevron also holds interests in major deepwater operations, including the Agbami Field and the Usan Field.
Role Overview
We are looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join Chevron’s Software Engineering Chapter. In this role, you will participate in the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from design and development to deployment and support of new software solutions, driving business value through technological innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Development:
- Drive the design, development, and deployment of software solutions that simplify business processes and workflows.
- Full-stack development utilizing .NET, C#, SQL, JavaScript, and front-end libraries/frameworks (Angular, React, Vue).
- Collaborate with program managers and product owners to align software solutions with business priorities.
- DevOps Practices:
- Participate in deploying software across environments using standard software engineering and DevOps practices.
- Stay current with the latest tools for continuous integration, unit tests, code analysis, and automated testing.
- Innovation and Collaboration:
- Lead architectural discussions and advocate for best practices in testing, modularity, scalability, and integration.
- Collaborate with internal partners to develop new technology standards when needed.
- Debug and resolve issues by applying programming concepts and improving business workflows through technical solutions.
- Leadership:
- Provide tactical and strategic technical leadership.
- Mentor and support junior team members to foster continuous improvement.
What You Will Bring
- Qualifications:
- A B.Sc. / B.Eng. / B.Tech Degree (minimum Second Class Upper) or a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
- Certifications in Microsoft Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) and/or Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) are a plus.
- Experience:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in software development and support using Microsoft technologies (Azure, .NET, Power Platform, SQL Server).
- Hands-on experience in solution design methods (MVC, MVVM, SPA).
- Skills and Expertise:
- Proficient in development tools such as source control, requirement gathering, solution design, and testing (unit, integration, performance, regression testing).
- Proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to convey technical and business information clearly.
- Analytical Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address technical challenges persistently.
- Leadership:
- Demonstrated ability to lead small cross-functional projects.
Additional Considerations
- Familiarity with information risk management, API integration, and messaging/data integration technologies is a plus.
- Experience working in an agile environment (Scrum/Kanban) and using cloud programming technologies such as Azure Stack, Ansible, and Azure DevOps is highly valued.
