UNILORIN MEDICAL SCREENING CENTRE COMMENCES OPERATION
The University of Ilorin(UNILORIN) Medical Screening Center (UMSC) has commenced operations to meet the health maintenance needs of members of the University community and the general public.
The center's director, Professor Lukman Abdur-Rahman, said in a statement that “the center was born out of the university's desire to provide state-of-the-art health promotion to minimize the consequences of lake poor medical records. due to lack of knowledge and access to appropriate facilities”.
The statement adds, “We conduct regular medical checks to maintain the health of the University community and prevent preventable casualties from treatable or controllable diseases. if detected early. At the UNILORIN Medical Examination Center, the client will receive appropriate counseling and evaluation reports, with the client's consent, will be forwarded to both the client and their treating physician.” According to the director, the screening tests that will be performed include imaging tests and baseline tests, which can be done without an appointment or through a referral.
“These are specific diseases, ages and conditions. We have the facilities to screen for chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, kidney and liver function, various organ cancers, hormones, immunoassays and tumor markers.” he added.
Professor Abdur-Rahman points out that the center is located next to the UNILORIN Health Services clinic on the main campus.
