Hey everyone,

I wanted to start a discussion about a topic that's important for many graduates: the exclusion from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for those who completed their studies through distance learning or part-time programs.

As some of you may know, the NYSC is a mandatory one-year service program for Nigerian graduates, designed to promote national unity and development. However, graduates from distance learning and part-time programs are often excluded from this requirement. Here's a brief overview:

Eligibility: Graduates who completed their degrees through distance learning or part-time studies are not eligible for the NYSC program.

Exclusion Letter: Instead of participating in the service year, these graduates receive an Exclusion Letter from the NYSC, which serves as official proof of their exemption due to the nature of their academic program.

Purpose: The rationale behind this exclusion is that distance learning and part-time students might not have had the same level of integration into the university environment as full-time students. The NYSC aims to complement this experience by fostering unity and shared experiences among recent graduates.

Procedure: To receive the Exclusion Letter, eligible graduates still need to register with the NYSC and provide documentation proving their mode of study.

What are your thoughts on this policy? Do you think it's fair, or should there be more flexibility for distance learning and part-time graduates? How has this affected you  or someone you know?

Looking forward to hearing everyone's opinions and experiences.

#Notonyscexclusion, this is not fair at all, and why will jamb proceed to doing regularization at first, a prosper announcement should have been passed before now,not all of a sudden… I blamed ASUP! I blamed the government! Using the opportunity to scrap PT so that they can embezzle the allawee meant for the poor student..#Notonyscexclusion.. it’s heartbreaking at the same time..
