Job Summary

Job holder shall be responsible and accountable for the human and material resources assigned to this shop. He shall at all time, keep all conveyor belts across the plant available and reliable and improve the on the performance of conveyor belt transport systems.

Main Activities / Responsibilities
  • He shall enforce all safety regulations related to execution of all tasks, and maintain a high level of housekeeping on a job site.
  • He shall develop a procedure for job execution depending on the techniques/type of individual task
  • He shall liaise with the planner to ensure that all specifications of all belts are available at all times.
  • Where necessary, he shall have stock of fabricated endless belts for quick replacement.
  • He shall ensure that all tools and equipment required for task execution are readily available and functional.
  • Shall be involved in the lagging of pulleys across the shops
  • This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and the job holder may be required to perform duties outside of this as operationally required

Key interfaces, stakeholders and relationships:
  1. The incumbent interacts regularly with all cadres of staff.
  2. Methods department for planning and preparation.
  3. He/she also interacts regularly with the external public including suppliers and other external stakeholders.
  4. Interfaces with the production team regarding belt operations

  1. MTBF
  2. NAI
  3. OEE
Profile Required
Level of education/qualifications normally required:
    1. HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years hands-on experience in the industry.
Specific Work experience:
    1. Belt Vulcanization and joining process.
Technical / Functional Skills:
    1. Good written and oral communication skills
    2. Strong computer Skills especially Excel, word, PowerPoint and email applications
    3. Ability to prioritize with excellent time management skill
    4. Good attention to detail
Behavioral competence:
    1. Good interpersonal skills
    2. Strong  team player
    3. Adaptable
    4. Tact and tolerant
    5. Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to set deadlines
    6. Resilient and Motivated
