Data Officer At The Lagos State Ministry Of Health

The Lagos State Ministry of Health (LSMoH) serves as the Principal Recipient (PR) of the Global Fund grant, with the primary objective of expediting the notification of TB cases in the state. In its capacity as the Principal Recipient, the Ministry holds legal responsibility for overseeing the grant’s overall management, ensuring the achievement of programmatic goals, and maintaining accountability for the financial resources allocated by the grant.

To execute this mandate effectively, the Ministry has established the Grant Management Unit (GMU), tasked with carrying out these responsibilities. The GMU collaborates with various implementing units (TB, SASCP, and RSSH) within the ministry, Sub-Recipients (SRs), and other implementing partners to fulfill its duties and ensure the efficient management and implementation of the grant in alignment with the agreement between the Global Fund and the Principal Recipient.

We are currently seeking candidates for the following position:

Position: Data Officer

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Daily input of client information into the Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) data management system for Radiographers.
  • Ensuring the timely and accurate daily entry of project data.
  • Efficiently tracking forms and ensuring accuracy.
  • Updating daily data statistics and registers.
  • Maintaining neat and accurate records of data forms, including the compilation of presumptive cases, those sent for sputum testing, and positive TB cases (both bacteriological and clinical).
  • Resolving data-related queries in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Upholding strict standards of patient confidentiality and the security of patient-identifiable information.
  • Printing all abnormal x-rays and reports, providing them to the relevant clinical/monitoring teams upon request.
  • Reporting any unusual events during the screening period.
  • Conducting data verification and Quality Assurance checks.
  • Assisting the Principal Recipient (PR – Lagos State TB Control Program) in generating reports to meet reporting deadlines for the Donor (Global Fund).
  • Providing support for other project-related tasks as needed.
  • Assisting other team members when required.
  • Participating in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team with a focus on meeting targets and achieving results.
  • Performing other relevant duties as necessary.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • HND/B.Sc in Health Information Management, Data Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with TB and HIV Disease Programs is a valuable asset.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Experience in conducting Data Quality Audits in Health Programs.
  • Proficiency in Data Governance and Compliance.
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in data management within public health projects.
  • Proficient in Spreadsheet and Database Management.
  • Experience in working with non-governmental organizations is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in TB screening or other health screening programs is a plus.
  • Adaptability in handling various field and office-related tasks.
