Responsibilities

Policy Development:

• Formulate, implement, and revise health and safety policies and procedures to meet local, state, and federal regulations.
• Effectively communicate policies and procedures to employees, ensuring comprehension and compliance.

Risk Assessment:

• Regularly conduct risk assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective measures.
• Analyze accident and incident data to recognize trends and areas for enhancement.

Training and Education:

• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees at all organizational levels.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure training materials are current.

Emergency Preparedness:

• Establish and uphold emergency response plans.
• Coordinate drills and exercises to ensure employee readiness for emergencies.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay informed about health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Ensure the organization’s adherence to all relevant laws and regulations.

Investigations:

• Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and other safety-related incidents.
• Maintain accurate records of investigations and corrective actions taken.

Safety Culture Promotion:

• Foster a positive safety culture across the organization.
• Encourage employee engagement in safety initiatives and programs.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address safety issues and implement enhancements.
• Engage with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders as necessary.

Job Requirements

• HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Prior experience as a Health and Safety Manager or in a similar role is preferred.
• Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) is advantageous.
• Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety regulations.
