Job Description
MEAL Officer At Solidarites International
Under the supervision of the MEAL Activity Manager, the MEAL Officer will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of activities, collecting data, and providing evidence of program progress and achievements.
Responsibilities:
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E):
- Assist in organizing and preparing M&E missions.
- Contribute to creating monitoring tools and database preparation.
- Ensure data consistency, quality, and timely entry.
- Maintain the database in a format that supports routine or periodic monitoring reports.
- Monitor potential negative impacts and crosscutting issues like gender and “Do No Harm.”
- Provide preliminary recommendations to improve activities.
- Monitor the humanitarian situation.
- Train field officers on monitoring tools with the support of the MEAL team.
- Support data collection at field level using SI tools and ensure all aspects are covered.
- Ensure soft and hard data on programs is accessible upon request.
- Follow security procedures during monitoring & evaluation missions.
Reporting / Communication:
- Draft M&E reports and provide project updates and recommendations.
- Participate in relevant seminars and workshops for M&E activities.
- Report regularly to the team lead on the progress of activities and any challenges faced.
- Archive and secure monitoring tools and files.
- Update monitoring and evaluation tools and methodology based on donor indicators, gender, and protection principles.
HR Management:
- Assist in recruiting the monitoring team (enumerators / DW) as needed.
- Train and supervise enumerators and monitoring teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, social sciences, project management, or related field.
- At least one year of experience in MEAL, with National or International NGOs.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an advantage.
- IT proficiency, particularly in Excel and Kobo toolbox.
