Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead, Construction Engineering Support to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of offshore construction activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and Nigerian regulatory requirements.
This role requires extensive experience in engineering and construction project management, offshore operations, contractor coordination, and technical execution within the oil and gas industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise offshore construction activities, including pipeline repairs, vessel modifications, structural works, well connections, and upgrades to production and processing facilities.
- Oversee engineering studies, tendering processes, fabrication activities, offshore installations, and project documentation.
- Manage project execution from receipt of approved Notifications/SMRs through to completion.
- Prepare cost estimates, project schedules, and technical feasibility studies for management review and approval.
- Ensure work is executed efficiently in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
- Develop contract strategies in collaboration with the Contracts Department.
- Prepare tender documentation and participate in bid evaluations alongside Project Controls, Contracts & Procurement, and other stakeholders.
- Supervise contractors to ensure successful execution of assigned projects.
- Prepare, manage, and defend project budgets while monitoring budget performance.
- Review and validate contractor cost estimates in accordance with contractual terms.
- Coordinate logistics between offshore worksites and operational bases.
- Liaise closely with field operations to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure full compliance with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) requirements, Nigerian regulations, and company policies.
- Prepare and monitor punch lists, ensuring all project documentation is completed and properly archived.
- Ensure timely closure of Notifications and Work Orders within the UNISUP system.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering and construction within the oil and gas industry.
- Proven experience managing small to medium-sized engineering or construction projects.
- Strong background in contractor management and project execution.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of offshore construction and engineering operations.
- Experience in project planning, budgeting, cost estimation, and scheduling.
- Excellent contract management and tendering skills.
- Strong leadership and contractor coordination abilities.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC standards and engineering best practices.
- Familiarity with UNISUP or similar maintenance/project management systems is an advantage.
