Role Description
- The Public Relations Officer (PRO) assumes the principal role in managing all communication, public relations, and public affairs within an organization.
- They oversee a team responsible for shaping the company’s brand image among its audience.
- The PRO, in collaboration with their team, oversees and coordinates all PR-related activities for the organization.
Scope of Public Relations:
- This domain is responsible for building and managing the organizational brand image by nurturing relationships with government ministries, agencies, departments, and parastatals.
Role Expectations
- Hands-on experience in devising innovative strategies and campaigns to engage with government ministries and agencies.
- Exposure to marketing and securing government contracts through campaigns.
- Learning to organize, multitask, and effectively manage time.
- Understanding the responsibilities of public relations and marketing within the field.
Responsibilities
- Developing innovative and compelling public relations strategies and campaigns to engage with government ministries and agencies for contract acquisition.
- Maintaining positive relationships between the organization and government establishments. Promoting the company’s image and acting as a spokesperson.
- Emphasizing company marketing through partnerships, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and strategic meetings. Meeting the demands of regular travel and project execution.
- Devising new strategies and adopting best practices to achieve objectives. Engaging with Procurement Directors, Permanent Secretaries, etc.
- Collaborating with other organizational teams to uphold the overall company objectives. Preparation of bidding documents and attendance at bidding openings.
- Managing the entire bidding process and associated documents leading to contract award(s). Handling any arising PR-related issues.
Requirements
- B.A or B.Sc in Public Relations, Marketing, or related field with a minimum of second class (lower division).
- Fluency in at least three Nigerian languages (Hausa, Yoruba, and Ibo).
- Evident maturity and strong analytical skills. Attentive to detail, patient, calm, and diligent, especially in challenging environments.
- A minimum of 5 years of prior work experience is advantageous.
- Substantial experience in marketing and promotion is required.
- Proficient skills and experience in securing contracts from government ministries, agencies, and departments.
- Excellent writing, oral presentation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and writing software (MS Office, etc.).
