Wema Bank Plc is inviting applications for its 2026 Bankers-in-Training (Sales) Programme, an entry-level development programme designed to equip young professionals with the skills required to build a career in sales, relationship management, and banking.

Programme Overview

The programme combines structured classroom training, practical field experience, and career development in areas including:

  • Customer acquisition
  • Sales and relationship management
  • Banking products and services
  • Commercial, Corporate, Retail, and SME Banking
  • Credit analysis and banking operations

Following the training, successful candidates will be deployed to the field and progress towards a Relationship Manager role.

Key Responsibilities After Training
  • Acquire new customers and grow the branch’s deposit and loan portfolio.
  • Identify new business opportunities through market research and prospecting.
  • Meet and exceed assigned monthly sales targets.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Resolve customer enquiries and complaints promptly.
  • Support preliminary loan assessments in collaboration with credit and risk teams.
  • Maintain accurate sales records and submit regular performance reports.

Requirements
  • Minimum of Second Class Upper (2:1) or equivalent in any Business or Social Science-related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 credits, including Mathematics and English, in WAEC, NECO, or equivalent.
  • Must not be older than 26 years at the time of application.
  • Must have completed NYSC and possess a valid discharge certificate.
  • 0–2 years of sales or relationship management experience is an added advantage.
  • Strong interest in sales, customer relationship management, and financial services.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a target-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and customer-focused.
  • Basic knowledge of financial products and services is an added advantage.
