The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme offers a fully funded opportunity for outstanding students worldwide to pursue a PhD at top universities in Hong Kong. This prestigious program is open to academically exceptional individuals who have demonstrated leadership skills, regardless of their background or previous work experience.

Established by the Research Grants Council (RGC), the scheme aims to attract top global talent to Hong Kong’s leading universities. It provides a platform for PhD candidates to engage with diverse cultures and benefit from Hong Kong’s vibrant academic environment and high-quality education.

• No separate application needed for the initial fellowship application

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a new full-time PhD student
• Open to all nationalities
• University education must have been in English, or an English Proficiency Certificate must be provided
• If not a new PhD student, must apply to other new full-time PhD programs
• Must choose from the participating universities

Application Process:

1. Apply for the fellowship through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme Electronic System (HKPFSES).
2. After submitting the initial application, you will receive a reference number.
3. Apply to up to two participating universities and mention the HKPFSES reference number in the university application form.
4. Ensure to meet each university’s submission deadlines.
