Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will manage the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and machinery in the maize milling operations. This position demands in-depth expertise in maize/flour milling processes to ensure the production facility’s efficiency, safety, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment in the maize mill.
• Ensure machinery operates efficiently, safely, and aligns with industry standards.
• Troubleshoot and promptly resolve mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment lifespan.
• Collaborate with production teams to optimize milling processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
• Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
• Provide technical support and training to mill operators and maintenance staff.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years in mechanical engineering, specifically in the milling industry (maize/flour milling preferred).
  • Proficiency with mechanical systems and equipment used in maize mills.
• Skills:
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with maintenance management software and tools.
