Plumbing Maintenance Worker at the US Embassy

Job Summary

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja seeks eligible and qualified candidates for two Plumbing Maintenance Worker positions within the Facilities Management Section.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled plumbing preventive maintenance and repair tasks for mission buildings, facilities, and residential properties.
  • Repair and install plumbing systems supporting various systems such as:
    • Plumbing building and mechanical systems
    • Potable water treatment and storage
    • Wastewater treatment
    • Fire sprinkler systems
    • Swimming pools and landscape irrigation
Education Requirements
  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Vocational training from an accredited institute with a focus on plumbing principles and application is required.
Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years in repair and maintenance of:
    • Building plumbing and mechanical systems
    • Utility treatment operations
Job Knowledge

Competency in:

  • Maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, water heaters, fire sprinkler systems, and water treatment plants.
  • Minor component replacement, including motors, valves, pumps, and control instruments.
  • Diagnosing and monitoring faults using testing procedures.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with end-users.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and under pressure in tight schedules.
  • Flexibility to handle work shifts and emergency calls.
  • Valid Nigerian driver’s license is required.
Salary

USD 10,833 per year
